How Myth shaped the meaning of a Word (Part -3)

From the presented model, it becomes quite obvious that the original names of trees (axis “X”), while retaining their phonetic similarity of words in different words from different languages, consistently migrated in the process of language evolution across the width of the language matrix (that is, parallel to the “Y” axis) into the names of spirits, deities and gods, and from them into all other concepts (meanings of words), stopping their migration at the concept of “devil”, that is, — the Antithesis of God. After all, a thesis (God) must be known through its antithesis (devil).

And certain meanings of words formed by early mythology, in turn, migrated in the process of language evolution parallel to the horizontal “X” axis, preserving their original meanings during such migration, but each time acquiring a phonetically different (distinct) sound in each different (separate) ethnic language.
As a basis for the semantic column of words on the “Y” axis, we have, as a specific example, provided key words from the plot (the algorithm of the Creator’s action) of the early Chinese myth about the first Creator Pangu, which we will not retell in detail due to lack of space.

Instead, we will clearly demonstrate that it does not matter which ethnic myth we use in each specific case, because it is myth in their global totality that, during the long evolution of language, formed all the meanings of words in the languages of the peoples of the world.

For example, the Finnish myth of Tall-Maja says that the name of this mythical forest creature (mistress of the forest) comes from the Swedish words tall (pine) and Maja (a popular female name). Tall-Maja is the embodiment of the forest, its spirit and guardian. The myth, in particular, says that her back looks like a hollow tree or a hollow (hole) with a tail, like that of a cow or a fox.

We are convinced that those peoples of the world who, in their ethnic languages, call a hollow (hole), a tail, a cow or calf, or a fox by words phonetically similar to the name of the mythical creature from Finnish mythology, Tall-Maja, have no idea how exactly those words, so familiar to them, were formed in their native language.

Please verify the above in person: toll (hole (Scottish Gaelic); toull (cavity (Breton language); tuļai (hole (Tamil language); țoļļu (hollow (Kannada language); thylli (hollow (Khasi language); tail (English); tel (tail (Krio language); te(i)l (cow (Tama language); telya, telytsya (calf, heifer (Ukrainian language); tele (calf (Macedonian language); teļš ( calf (Latgalian language); telâ (heifer (Komi language); tölke ( fox (Tartar); tilki (fox (Crimean Tatar language); tülkü (fox (Kyrgyz and Azerbaijani languages); tölkö (fox (Bashkir language); thaelab (fox (Arabic).

As we can see, we are dealing with an alternative etymology of words, which arose and was formed on the basis of the deeply mythologized consciousness of ancient man, and which really existed in the distant past of humanity and left its amazing and unique mythologized mark in human language. This is an alternative etymology, which is based on the dominant role of mythology (myth) in the formation of word meanings and which has not been given due importance until now, and which, obviously, needs to be corrected.

Conclusions and reflections on all of the above.

As we were able to verify above, based on the theoretical model of the language matrix proposed by us above, we are dealing with a fundamentally different (alternative) view of human evolution, the role of religion and language. As we have able to verify, the religion (religious cult) of the tree originally deified by the distant ancestors of man, in logical combination with myth, radically influenced the development of imagination and abstract thinking in the distant ancestors of man. The result of this combination was a unique evolutionary achievement of humanity, language. Religion provided a powerful impetus for the development of language, and its natural offspring, religious myth, formed the meaning of all words in the language.

You can be convinced of the above if you carefully look at the proposed model of the language matrix (grid-tape) with address memory cells for words. The proposed model has two clearly pronounced obvious features. In the process of language evolution, words migrated along the language matrix in two mutually perpendicular directions: along the vertical “X” axis — from the name of the tree (later — the Tree-god), to the Antithesis of the God (the devil), each time preserving the phonetic similarity of the words with the name of the tree (the traditional “territory” of hominid primate habitat). It is quite obvious that if there were no perpendicular movement of “concepts” that myth (mythology) constantly created (generated), then words that moved vertically could never acquire any other meanings than the meanings of the name “tree” that were already inherent in them (that is, traditional vocal signal of primates, with which they meant “there tree”). The obvious consequence of the absence of religious myth would be that language could never have emerged among humans, since words could never have acquired their multiple meanings (their information content).

That is, each time at the intersection points of the “X” and “Y” axes, the word “tree” in the language system acquired a different meaning, while maintaining a phonetic similarity with the name of a particular tree.

If we take any world word from any language and mentally “reverse” its migratory evolution in the opposite direction to its origins, we get only two beginnings: a tree and a religious myth.
Using the modern language of computer science, we can succinctly summarize: myth created the software for language.

In practice, this means that any word from any language, having a certain meaning in one language, will always mean the name of a tree (deified tree) in another. We defined our idea as concisely and succinctly as possible with the words: all that exists was named after a tree. This idea was first published by us in Ukraine.

And we were able to convincingly verify the authenticity of what was said using the “A model of language matrix …” and the example of the name of the mythical creature Tall-Maja from Swedish mythology, where her name comes from name of a pine tree. The second part of her name, Maja, is also a well-known goddess in European mythology. However, due to lack of space, we will not explore it.

Among other things, humanity has two achievements: one wonderful — language, and the other disgusting — war. Throughout human history, differences in religious beliefs and phonetic differences in human languages have been successfully used to incite hatred and strife between the peoples of world.

The authors have a cherished dream, which is that people’s understanding and deep awareness of the idea we propose will ultimately help humanity take another evolutionary step on the path to peaceful progressive development, to a happy and peaceful life in a world forever devoid of wars on a planet completely covered with the Forest-Guardian (Tree) — the eternal evolutionary cradle of humanity.

The world must become a better place.
