Indian mortals refer to human characters in Indian mythology who had a very important role in shaping the way many of the stories and legends panned out. These mortals usually are the starting point for most of the stories and their interaction with gods, demigods, hybrids and other mortals tend to be the basis for almost all the epics in Indian mythology.
These characters usually have heightened capabilities but not in a superhuman manner. They usually are the best or worst among their peers and exhibit almost all human qualities including mortality. Human emotions like greed, pride, envy, anger and lust are also a defining factor in their characterisation.
