European Gods tend to overlap among the various mythologies present in the region like Celtic, Balkan and Baltic. The European gods tend to be more modern keeping in mind the relative youth of the cultures and recorded history.

The introduction of Christianity in the region led to most indigenous religions and gods being labelled as pagan. Overtime belief in the traditional gods were considered to be sacrilege and in some cases labelled witchcraft.

In almost all parts of Europe these traditional Gods and mythical figures are no longer part of the active culture. The inclusive nature of these countries has allowed the local cultured to embrace a combination of immigrant beliefs like Islam and Hindu. A strong atheistic mindset also prevails in modern European society that holds its own against the predominant Christian belief system.
