Home  |  Animals   |  European Animals

European Animals refer to the animals that have an important part to play in the belief systems, mythologies, folklore and traditions of the Celtic, Baltic and Balkan regions of Europe. They are usually fantastical beasts who are shown to be in constant conflict with humans and other mortals.

From Dragons to wolves, the animals have heavy influence of other mythologies especially from Norse and Greek mythology. The advent of Christianity and the influence of the Church or England the Roman Catholic Church had succeeded in supressing these beliefs as pagan but in mnay parts of the continent people still keep these beliefs alive.
