Middle Eastern animals refer to the animals that were a part of the mythology of the region including Arabian, Iranian and even more ancient civilizations like the Sumerians and Mesopotamians. The animals are usually ones that are easily found in the desert habitat that the people could easily relate to.

With the spread of Islam, the prominence of these mythological characters declined as the teachings of the religion forbade attributing any magical powers to any other being other than the supreme god Allah. The influence of these animals in the stories still exist with various symbolisms still being used today by various entities in the region.
