Mediterranean animals refer to the list of fantastical animals that are a part of the Greek and Roman mythologies and the stories that revolve around the characters. Greek and Roman mythologies have a lot in common and the various animals are also similar with different names but similar attributes and storylines.

These animals tend to be highly humanised and a very thin line exists between animals and hybrids as most animals tend to display characteristics that mimic the behaviour of either humans or other animals. They all have a definite role in moving the myths forward and can either be positive or negative in nature. They are also the reason why many of the mortal characters attain supremacy in their respective stories.
